The Mammoth Hunters

Natural traps (quicksands) attracted the attention of Stone Age hunters by promising easy prey. A mammoth vertebra, pierced with a spearhead, was found at the Paleolithic site of primitive man, discovered nearby Khanty-Mansiisk within the greatest "cemetery" of mammoths in Western Siberia.

The unique find is thirteen and a half thousand years old. It is the only find of this kind discovered in Siberia and one of two found in the world. The tomographic research of the vertebra carried out at the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, allowed researchers to "look inside" the perforation...
